Ball's Falls Conservation Area
Ball's Falls Conservation Area is off Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) exit 57, then 6 km (4 mi.) s. on Victoria Ave. and 1 km (.6 mi.) e. on 6th Ave. (Hwy. 75). Encompassing 112 hectares (278 acres) along Twenty Mile Creek, this 19th-century industrial hamlet now serves recreational and educational purposes. On-site structures include a gristmill, the first mill owner's house, a lime kiln, two 1790s cabins, a fruit drying shed, an 1864 church, a blacksmith shop and a carriage shed. Journey Behind the Falls
ourney Behind the Falls, 1.6 km (1 mi.) s. of Rainbow Bridge on the Niagara River Pkwy. at Table Rock Point, contains elevators that descend to the base of the Horseshoe Falls. Three tunnels lead from the elevators and provide excellent vantage points for close-up views of the thundering falls and the Niagara River. The observation plaza is about 38 metres (125 ft.) below the gorge embankment and 8 metres (26 ft.) above the river's edge. Disposable raincoats are provided. Marineland
Marineland, 7657 Portage Rd., is known for its marine shows, which feature dolphins, walruses and sea lions. There also are a freshwater aquarium and wildlife displays with bears, elk and buffalo and a deer petting park. At the interactive whale habitat and Arctic Cove, visitors can touch and feed beluga whales. Friendship Cove features killer whales.
